About the YAB

A Youth-Led Movement Since 2020

Established in July 2020, the South Dakota Youth Action Board has grown to over 140 youth members aged 15–24, reflecting the diversity and lived experiences of young people facing housing insecurity across South Dakota. The YAB works closely with the South Dakota Housing Development Authority, HUD, the Continuum of Care, and local service providers to shape policies, develop programs, and ensure youth voices are central to every decision.

YAB members are also connected with mentors through local partner agencies who support youth leadership development and personal growth.
